''I now pronounce you Graduates!''
It was a pronouncement that I thought confirmed the "end" of my stay in STI-Balayan. But as the days, months and even years passed, I realized that I was wrong. For being an STIer does not end in graduation, it is merely the start.
I will not forget the first time I went to STI to inquire about their curriculum. I was skeptical about its reputation and doubtful if its teachings suited my needs or not. I felt nervous as well if I can pass my subjects with flying colors. But when school started, I realized that my worries were in vain. For this institution – STI -- which I used not to believe in has helped me prepare for my future, what I am now and what I will become in the years to come.
And now, years after graduation, I am still proud of being an STIer. I might not be around to participate in the school programs, but in my heart I know I am still a part of my ever-improving institution. This sense of belongingness, of being a member of this big family is truly a unique legacy!
HISTORY
The STI Alumni Association Inc. (STIAA) was founded on August 19,1999 following a top management decision to integrate all alumni programs worldwide. Specifically, its guiding objectives were:
1. to establish and nurture an Association that shall aim to sustain and promote the moral , ethical and professional values of our alma mater and;
2. to help build a strong community of IT specialists for the upliftment of graduates of our school system and of the entire Filipino nation
The previous years had seen local reunions and recognition for STI graduates who had exceptionally made great strides in their personal and career lives.
In a span of four years, the STIAA has grown in proportion to the mushrooming of more STI centers and the increase of graduates. Today, the Board of Directors will oversee more than 120 alumni chapters all over the country. The association offers services to more than 50,000 alumni, provides outreach programs, and sponsors numerous educational and development programs.
